Head said the vehicle sheared in half upon impact.
According to Etowah County Coroner Michael Head, the victim died when his 2003 Infiniti struck a tree. The 23-year-old man was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead just before 9 a.m. Saturday. His name has not been released.
