An early morning single-vehicle wreck on Fletcher Road in McCalla killed one person and injured another. One person was killed and another injured in an early-morning wreck Tuesday. According to Jefferson County deputies, a single-car accident was reported at 6:20 a.m. in the 5100 block of Fletcher Road. A white Chevrolet truck was traveling west on Fletcher Road when the driver lost control, left the road and hit a tree before landing in a ditch. Deputies said the driver, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Man, 22, killed in early-morning Jefferson County crash

A 22-year-old man was killed this morning in a single-vehicle crash in Jefferson County. Sheriff's deputies were dispatched at 6:20 a.m. to the 5100 block of Fletcher Road in McCalla. The truck left the road and struck a tree before coming to rest in a ditch. Investigators believe the truck was driving west on Fletcher Road when the driver lost control. When they arrived, they found a white Chevrolet truck that had left the road and struck a tree, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian.

McCalla man, 22, identified as fatal crash victim

Deerman pronounced dead on the scene. An adult male passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Christian said. There was no one else in the truck.
