Community mourning loss of teens killed in Morris crash

"We're a very close-knit community and anytime something happens, especially with a young person, people bond together," principal Craig Kanaday says. "And our churches last night opened the doors for kids to come and to talk and discuss, and have counseling and prayer. There were many kids that were there at the scene."

It was about 6:30 p.m. when an SUV driving on New Castle Road started to veer off of the roadway. That's when investigators believe the driver overcorrected, causing the car to depart the roadway and roll over. Responders found two people dead in the car, and have identified them as Ryan Christopher Washburn,18, and Carson Nolan Thomas, 16, though did not make it clear who was driving. A third victim was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, but they only sustained minor injuries.
