The tanker truck driver is in critical condition and the passenger of the tanker truck has minor injuries, according to Pelham police Lt. Police say the tanker truck tried to avoid hitting the Honda Civic, crashed into a ravine and caught on fire. The tanker truck will be removed from the scene in pieces by two different wreckers since it was so badly damaged. Pelham police confirm one person has died as a result of a crash between a car and a tanker truck carrying gasoline on Wednesday morning. The tanker truck, occupied by two people, collided head-on with a black Honda Civic, also occupied by two people, when the Honda driver crossed the median around 6:45 a.m.

It happened on Highway 11 near Chatham Court around 6:45 a.m., causing a portion of Highway 11 to be closed for most of the day on Wednesday. Police say the tanker truck tried to avoid hitting the Honda Civic, crashed into a ravine and caught on fire.

In addition to Ferguson, injured in the crash were the truck's driver and a passenger, along with a passenger in the Honda. The truck driver took evasive action but the two vehicles collided with the tanker overturning and spilling gasoline off the roadway. Both drivers were transported to UAB Hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries, and the truck driver remained in critical condition, according to police.

A truck driver remains in critical condition today after a fiery head-on crash that killed a Chelsea-area teen on Wednesday morning in Pelham. The collision resulted in a fiery aftermath from the tanker that was carrying about 9,000 gallons of gasoline that spilled and ignited. Pelham police reported this morning that truck driver David Shannon Ramey, 40, of Crane Hill, was listed in critical condition at UAB Hospital. The collision resulted in closure of Highway 11, which remained closed until Wednesday night as utility crews worked to repair damage. A passenger in the truck, James Gregory Ferguson, 41, of Oakman, was listed in stable condition at Trinity Medical Center, according to police.

The driver of the tanker truck involved in theJuly 8 wreck on Highway 11 has passed away. David Shannon Ramey, 40, of Crane Hill died from injuries sustained in a head-on collision.

The collision resulted in a fiery aftermath from the tanker that was carrying about 9,000 gallons of gasoline that spilled and ignited. James Bradley Ferguson, 18, was also killed. Ferguson was driving a Honda Accord that crossed the center line and collided with the Ramey's tanker truck that rolled over and ignited. Kobe Alen Grayson, 18, of Chelsea, was a passenger in the Accord and was hospitalized at UAB with serious injuries.

Bradley was 18. He just turned 19 this April 17th. He was 18 when this happened. Not 19.
