Authorities are clarifying one detail on a crash that happened Saturday, leaving a woman in serious but stable condition. The Auburn Police Department originally said the victim was a student at Auburn University, when in fact, she is not enrolled.

Authorities are clarifying one detail on a crash that happened Saturday, leaving a woman in serious but stable condition. The Auburn Police Department originally said the victim was a student at Auburn University, when in fact, she is not enrolled.

The victim, identified only as a 22-year-old female, was leaving a rodeo event at Auburn University when the crash happened.

Police say the crash took place just before 11 p.m. on South College Street near Interstate 85, when a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado struck a 2007 Ford F-350 from behind.

The injured female was riding in the bed of the Silverado truck with several others. She was transported by helicopter to Columbus Regional Medical Center.

Police arrested the driver of the Silverado, 25-year-old Jonathan Giles of Summerdale, and charged him with Driving Under the Influence.

Police are still investigating the accident and additional charges are possible.
