Two men have been rushed to the hospital after a plane crash in Clayton.

The Barbour County Sheriff says the single engine aircraft with two male passengers was headed from Valdosta to Tuscaloosa when something caused the engine to stall in the air at 6,000 feet.

The pilot managed to glide the plane down towards County Shop Road but clipped a tree and crashed in the 900 block around 4 p.m.

First responders rushed to the scene and found the pilot and passenger conscious, according to the sheriff.

He told WSFA the men suffered apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

The FAA will be investigating the crash.

Sheriff's deputies are currently monitoring the wreckage as the plane is leaking fuel.
