Brooks and Edwards were apparently trying to cross Columbus Parkway when they stepped in front of the westbound vehicle and were struck.
Two pedestrians die following crash in Opelika
The Opelika Police Department says they are investigating a crash after two pedestrians were killed after being struck by a vehicle.
Two Opelika residents were killed in a Friday night pedestrian accident involving a vehicle and the two pedestrians. Brooks was airlifted from the scene by Lifesaver helicopter but died from multiple blunt force internal injuries in the hospital emergency room. Edwards was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, but died from a severe head injury and multiple blunt force injuries. Alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the accident.
