A motorcyclist crashed after a high speed chase with authorities in East Alabama, according to the Lee County sheriff.

Officials say the chase began when the motorcyclist was speeding and deputies attempted to pull him over at the intersection of Lee Road 212 and Lee Road 240 in Lee County.
Officials say the man, later identified as Travis Cooley, 23, then sped off in the wrong direction on Highway 431. The chase ended in a crash at Knowles Road and 5th Street in Russell County.
The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
