Staudinger says the two were walking on the crosswalk at Colin Powell Parkway when Ford’s car entered the roadway heading towards Highway 280.
He says both the girl and her mother, 25-year-old Zaneka Huff, sustained head injuries from the accident. He adds alcohol was “definitely a factor” in the crash.

Ford was initially charged with DUI and two counts of first-degree assault. One of the charges has since been upgraded to manslaughter since the child's death. Ford was initially booked into the Russell County Jail but has since bonded out on the previous charges.
