Herring, of Defuniak Springs, was driving a 2004 Jeep when she ran a stop sign and was struck by a 2008 Mitsubishi Galant driven by 39-year-old Enterprise resident David Smith. A passenger in Herring's vehicle, 85-year-old Raynell Free Goodwin, also of Defuniak Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene.
