Corporal Jess Thornton with ALEA says the accident involving the student, who has not been identified but is confirmed to have been 16 years old, happened when the 2008 GMC Sierra the student was a passenger in ran off the road and hit a tree.

According to a report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the teen, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
