Emergency crews were responding to a reported plane crash at Deer Valley Airport in north Phoenix late Tuesday morning.

The crash was reported shortly before noon Tuesday, and helicopter footage from the area showed firefighters spraying foam on the remnants of a plane near a fence at the airport.

According to an FAA spokesman, a plane crashed and became fully engulfed in flames. There were three people on board, with one person who suffered a minor injury. The other two people on board were not injured, said FAA spokesman, citing reports from local authorities.

A witness said she saw the crash from an airport restaurant. She saw smoke near Seventh Street and Deer Valley Road and then saw three people walking away from the wreck.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash, though it could take weeks to determine a probable cause for the accident.

Police and fire officials were gathering at the scene to provide reporters with more information early Tuesday afternoon.
