The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office van had just dropped off some prisoners at the Fourth Avenue Jail and was heading west on Adams Street at about 3 a.m. Just as the van was entering the intersection with 19th Avenue east of Interstate 17, a white Cadillac ran a red light and slammed into the side of the van.
