School bus vs. SUV accident leads to arrest

When Vernon arrived on scene, the bus driver told him the passenger in the SUV got out of the car and left the scene. According to Officer Jeff Vernon, the SUV was at the stoplight on Kitchen when the Jonesboro Public School bus tried to go around it and get in the turn lane. Vernon said both drivers are at fault because the SUV was over the line dividing the 2 lanes, and the bus should have waited to get in the turn lane. The interesting thing about the accident, Vernon said, was an arrest was made. It happened at the intersection of Matthews and Kitchen St. around 7:55.
