Radio host named one of two killed in early morning crash

According to an Arkansas State Police report, an unidentified female driver was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 430 across the river bridge. The car reportedly hit the vehicle driven by radio host Gary DiGiuseppe, 60, in a head-on collision. The vehicles caught fire and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The report states that the unidentified driver was behind the wheel of a 1998 Buick that was traveling north in the southbound lanes and ran into Digiuseppe's southbound 2005 Ford, catching fire after the impact.Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

DiGiuseppe, 60, was the morning newscaster on "First News With Kevin Miller" on KARN, according to a statement from Cumulus, which said he was on his way to work from his home in Maumelle when he was killed. DiGiuseppe also provided daily newscasts for the Arkansas Radio Network, where he was once farm director.

"He always got to the station before I did. And when I got there this morning, and the station was dark, I knew something was wrong, but my first thought was 'maybe he overslept.' To my horror, I found out it was something different,” said Shannon Hills Mayor, Mike Kemp, DiGiuseppe's friend and co-worker.
