Motorcyclist dies in Butte County crash.
A motorcyclist died Friday evening in crash in Butte County.
Sgt. Mark Taylor of the California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred about 6:52 p.m. on Cherokee Road, about a quarter mile east of Highway 70, north of Oroville.
He said a man on an off-road motorcycle was traveling downhill when he came around a curve and lost control, laying down the motorcycle in the path of an four-wheel drive pickup headed uphill. The driver of the pickup was unable to stop in time to avoid running on top of the motorcyclist, who was lying in the roadway.
Taylor said an off-duty firefighter arrived at the scene and called 911.
Taylor said the motorcyclist has not been identified. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither the driver nor passengers in the truck were injured.
