Several hospitalized after multi-vehicle freeway pileup(link is external)

CARSON, Calif. (AP) Several northbound lanes of State Route 110 near Los Angeles remain closed following a pre-dawn multi-car pileup that left several people injured. Officials say all but one northbound lane remain closed as the CHP investigates the cause of the crash. California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Bishop says the chain-reaction crash happened just after 3:30 a.m. in Carson. Bishop couldn't confirm that number but said 11 tow trucks were called to the scene. KABC-TV reports 13 vehicles were involved in the crash.

Six Injured in 10-Car Freeway Pileup(link is external)

Two people were critically injured and four others suffered minor injuries in a 10-vehicle pileup on the Harbor (110) Freeway in Carson. The crash was on the northbound 110 Freeway at 223rd Street, approaching the San Diego (405) Freeway. At least one vehicle overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol. County firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 3:40 a.m. and handled 14 patients at the scene -- where two were in critical condition, four had minor injuries, and the remaining were treated at the scene and released, according to a county fire department dispatcher. One of the critically injured -- a woman -- was transported to Harbor/UCLA Medical Center, according to the CHP. All lanes of traffic were closed on the northbound freeway at 3:46 a.m., with the number four lane eventually opening at 8:54 a.m., according to the CHP.
