2 killed when plane crashes into Calif. apartment building
A Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher said the two people who died were both on the plane. Residents of the building were all accounted for and no one else was hurt, the station said.

The crash occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the 4500 block of Broadway, which is about a mile west of Hawthorne Municipal Airport and close to Hawthorne High School.

The aircraft, described as a Grumman American AA-1B, crashed two miles west of the airport under unknown circumstances, Allen Kenitzer with the Federal Aviation Administration stated.
