Man Killed in Smart Car Crash

In a freak accident, a man was killed when a tire flew off a truck and caused the driver of the Smart Car to lose control Sunday. CHP said the Smart Car was the only vehicle involved in the crash after the tire came loose. The Covina Boulevard offramp on the 57 Freeway was shut down for two hours in San Dimas after the crash. The tire collided with a Smart Car, and the driver lost control. Officials on scene told NBC4 that a truck was traveling on the 57 Freeway just south of the 210 Freeway when the truck lost a tire.
