The victims were in a white BMW and were pulling out of a drive-thru restaurant when they were struck. As they tried to make a left turn, police say a Jeep driving at a high rate of speed collided into the BMW.

Firefighters and paramedics dispatched at 12:38 a.m. to 3998 S. Normandie Ave. reported two people dead at the scene, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

On Monday morning, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the pair as Kevin Castillo, 20, of Pomona, and Maria Polanco Aviles, 20, of Los Angeles.
