Several lanes of the 57 Freeway near Chapman Avenue in Fullerton were shut down late Wednesday evening after a multiple-vehicle crash involving a big rig, authorities said.

Nine vehicles in total were damaged according to the CHP, some with major damage and others with minor damage caused by being hit with debris. Tow trucks are currently at the scene and clearing the area of vehicles.

Deadly big-rig crash on 57 leaves one man dead; snarled freeway traffic overnight

Eric McEntarffer, 28, was driving a white Honda Accord in the fast lane of the 57 freeway when, suddenly, an airborne forklift, big-rig and car came crashing through the concrete center divider in front of him, wrecking three other cars before the truck driver drove straight into him.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a a semi-trailer truck blew a tire and lost control shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday on southbound State Route 57. The semi hit the center divider and rolled over into northbound lanes, causing a chain reaction of accidents that involved at least 10 other vehicles. A man driving a white Honda was killed.
