At around 5:10 a.m., a 2001 GMC Sierra driving westbound on Cajalco Road , east of Gavlan Road, collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche driving eastbound on the same road, California Highway Patrol said in a written statement.

They were Francisco Lazaro, 56, and Carolina Balerio De Lazaro, 52, the Riverside County coroner’s office said. They were in a 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Francisco Lazaro that smashed into an eastbound 2006 Chevy Avalanche with the two men inside, the California Highway Patrol reported.
