Bicyclist injured in Calimesa hit-and-run.

Authorities are searching for the hit-and-run driver who struck a man on a bicycle in Calimesa Sunday.

"Right now he's in critical condition," Tressler said, speaking from outside the hospital in Moreno Valley shortly after 3 p.m. Dec. 30. "The doctors have told the family in the next 24 hours he has a 50-50 chance of survival."

Calimesa Man Accused of Hit-and-Run on Bicyclist Critically Injured

William Donald Johnson, 42, of Calimesa, was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 6, according to inmate records. He was booked Monday evening at Smith Correctional. He was released Tuesday on $25,000 bail and he has a court date March 4 in Banning.
Authorities found a bicyclist lying in the roadway at the intersection of Calimesa Boulevard and Singleton Road. According to witnesses, the bicyclist was traveling southbound and a vehicle crossed the divider and struck the bicyclist head on. The victim's name has been identified as Banning area resident Phil Richards.
