Two hurt in Highway 74 crash on July 4

One person suffered major injuries and another moderate injuries in a head-on collision on Highway 74 in unincorporated Palm Springs, a Riverside County fire official said Sunday. Saturday on eastbound Highway 74 west of Carrizo Road, said the Riverside County Fire Department's April Newman. The person with major injuries was transported via air ambulance to a hospital and the one with moderate injuries went to a hospital in a ground ambulance, she said. The California Highway Patrol was investigating, Newman said. Viewers said traffic backed up for miles with July 4th traffic heading into, and out of, the area.
