Police are investigating a deadly accident that killed three young Modesto teens late Thursday night.

Three teenagers died when a stolen car crashed into a tree and caught fire after a chase early Friday, authorities said. The names of those killed have not been released, but police say they were a girl and two boys, all 16 and all from Modesto.

David Chamberlain, a police officer in central Modesto tried to stop a car after seeing the driver violate a vehicle code at 11:40 p.m.
