A passenger was seriously injured when a car rear-ended a FedEx truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.
As the truck was approaching a red light in the right turn lane on Watt Avenue near Chenu Avenue, a 2011 Dodge Avenger was traveling at a high rate of speed straddling the No. 3 lane and the turn lane.
The CHP says the driver of the Avenger, David Longenecker, 25 of Sacramento, didn’t see the FedEx truck slowing and slammed into the rear of it, forcing the Avenger underneath the truck.
The front passenger in the Avenger, Joshua Stephens, 21 of Rancho Cordova, was taken to the hospital with major injuries. Neither the FedEx driver or Longenecker were injured in the collision.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash.
How can a lawyer help with an auto accident claim?
First, having a lawyer on your side levels the playing field. The person who caused the accident is required to immediately turn the case over to his or her insurance company. The insurance company uses adjusters and lawyers who are specifically trained to deny or reduce your claim. This may include denying compensation to family members who are entitled to receive benefits for loss of companionship. Learn more here about what a lawyer does in auto accident cases.
