Kenneth Whittall-Scherfee, 60, and Peter C. Jackson, 55, killed in small-plane crash near Truckee-Tahoe Airport in Truckee, California
Kenneth Whittall-Scherfee of Carmichael, the pilot who also owned the plane, issued a “May Day” alert before the crash, the sheriff’s office said. The names of the passengers have not been released.
According to the California State Bar, Whittall-Scherfee was a bankruptcy lawyer with an office in Truckee and a graduate of the McGeorge School of Law.
Whitall-Scherfee reported having engine problems just before the crash, the FAA reports. He was trying to make it back to the nearby Truckee-Tahoe Airport when the crash happened.
