Good Samaritan Rescues Teen from Burning Vehicle in Vacaville

Seventeen-year-old Sylvia Benedic met who she considers to be her guardian angel. A fiery crash Monday night along Leisure Town and Vanden roads, caused their paths to cross. "Wow! I didn't think it was going to be happening like this," good Samaritan Austin Eaton said. Eaton was on way home, when he watched Sylvia's car going in the opposite direction fishtale, cross over and flip three times in front of him. "I was screaming, at the top of my lungs. I was sitting on the floor. I was hugging myself," a panicked Sylvia said. Within seconds, Eaton, an Army veteran, instinctively hurried out of his car and climbed on top of Sylvia's driver's side window, which was now facing the sky. "She was sitting on the passenger's side window, and I started beating on the window glass ... telling her to open the door, open the door and she wasn't responding," he said. She doesn't remember Austin yelling to her several times to get her driver's door open. But when she finally did ... "I looked up and he held it open, I wrapped my arms around him, and he pulled me out," she recalled.
