Authorities are looking for a semi-truck driver they believe is behind a deadly hit-and-run crash in the Fontana area.

California Highway Patrol officials say the semi was heading northbound on Etiwanda Avenue at approximately 2:15 a.m. when it ran a red light at San Bernardino Avenue.

Authorities say the semi struck an SUV and a small Ford sedan. The two aboard the SUV suffered minor injuries, but the driver of the Ford died on impact.

The driver of the semi did not stop after the crash. Instead, investigators said he kept driving for about a half a mile to the corner of Etiwanda Avenue and Napa Street, where he ditched his vehicle and fled on foot.

K-9 units followed the driver's scent outside of a truck yard near the backside of the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. By 6:30 a.m., the search turned up empty, so investigators expanded the search area to beyond the truck yard down some railroad tracks.
