The man was between the two left-most lanes when he was struck near Greenfield Drive about 11:50 p.m., CHP Officer Kevin Pearlstein said.

The 28-year-old man, who has not been identified, was seen lying across the number one lane of westbound Interstate 8 in the College Area of San Diego, east of Mission Valley, at approximately 3:21 a.m., according to the Medical Examiner's office.
