The California Highway Patrol was investigating a fatal crash that closed all lanes on northbound Interstate 5 in Pacific Beach.

He stopped the car near the Grand/Garnet Avenue exit and shut off the lights just before it was struck head-on by an oncoming car around 10:15 p.m. Friday, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol.
