Steve Pirolli and Stephen Pirolli Jr. killed in collision on Espola Road in Poway, California

The driver of the Toyota, a 54-year-old man, was killed in the crash. His teenage son who was a passenger in the car was taken to Rady Children's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to deputies.

A GoFundMe was set up for the family as neighbors who live in the area questioned if more can be done to improve safety on the stretch of road.

The father and son, who were from Rancho Bernardo, were a dynamic duo in which Stephen looked up to his father as a source for inspiration while Steve looked at his son as his pride and joy.

Support from the community immediately starting pouring in, with a memorial set up near the high school.

On Tuesday, the San Diego Sheriff's Department announced that Farmer was facing charges of gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs causing bodily injury and driving without a license. Investigators said Farmer had been impaired and driving recklessly.

Stephen Pirolli, 54, and son, Stephen Pirolli Jr., 13, died in crash as they left the teen's baseball practice.

Donald Lee Farmer is facing four to eight years in prison following his guilty plea for two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and one count of driving without a license.
