A 22-year-old driver suspected of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol was arrested early Wednesday morning in a crash on the Rincon Indian Reservation.
A 22-year-old driver suspected of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol was arrested early Wednesday morning in a crash on the Rincon Indian Reservation.
The man was headed east on North Paradise Creek Lane near Valley Center Road about 6:15 a.m. in a Honda Civic when he drifted into westbound lanes and sideswiped a Toyota Tacoma, a California Highway Patrol Officer said.
The man told officers he had just taken off his seat belt and was reaching for his iPod.
He said the collision sent the Honda driver, Cory Allen of Valley Center, into the windshield.
Allen did not have to be hospitalized, and he was booked into Vista jail on numerous charges including DUI, driving without a license, having an open container, narcotics possession and possession for sale. He is being held on $180,000 bail.
The driver in the Toyota was not injured, Bettencourt said.
