Update: Authorities name driver in fatal American Canyon crash

A fatal two-vehicle collision Saturday night was believed to be connected to drinking, according to the American Canyon Police Department. The California Highway Patrol, Sheriff's Office and Napa County District Attorney's Office are investigating the crash. A woman driving the minivan was killed in the wreck, police Chief Tracey Stuart said in a statement. The crash, which occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m., involved a Ford pickup truck on northbound Highway 29 that struck a minivan that was turning from the southbound highway onto Eucalyptus Drive at the Napa Junction Shopping Center, according to authorities. Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, the department said.

Update: Napa State Hospital nurse identified as victim in fatal American Canyon crash

On Sunday evening, American Canyon Police identified the deceased motorist as Rosalina Perez, 69, of San Jose. Perez worked as a nurse at Napa State Hospital and was on her way home, the Napa County Sheriff's Office said.

Drunk driver sentenced to prison for murder in American Canyon

Tapia-Felix was also convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and evading a peace officer causing death during his February trial.
