Two die in fiery crash in Bodega Bay

Two people were killed early Sunday in a fiery crash along Highway 1 in Bodega Bay. The CHP is still investigating the crash and has not not yet released the names of the victims. They were traveling north at a high rate of speed when their Hyundai Genesis went off the road on Bodega Highway near Doran Park Road, said Officer Jonathan Sloat of the California Highway Patrol. Bodega Bay Fire rushed to the scene and put the fire out. The pair burned to death when their car slammed into a eucalyptus tree and burst into flames.

The victims were Daniel McKnew, 25, of Texas and Samantha Crowell, 21, of New Jersey, according to a Sonoma County sheriff’s spokeswoman. They died when their car slammed into a eucalyptus tree at about 1:45 a.m. and burst into flames.
