Calistoga cyclist injured in Upvalley collision

A 68-year-old Calistoga cyclist received major injuries following a collision with a car on Silverado Trail north of Pickett Road on Friday, the California Highway Patrol reported. Jose Herrera, who was riding southbound, made an unsafe turning movement into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by Homero Vasquez, 62, of Calistoga, the CHP said. Herrera was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center by ambulance, the CHP said. He was no longer a patient at the hospital on Monday morning, a spokesperson said.
