Oakland: Road rage case leaves one shot, 11 injured in crashes including two children(link is external)

Police said a 23-year-old Oakland man was driving a Mazda sedan with four passengers when he went through a red light and turned onto the westbound lanes of Bancroft Avenue, almost sideswiping a BMW driven by a 26-year-old Oakland man whose pregnant wife was a passenger. Officer Mike Troupe said the two cars drove side by side westbound on Bancroft jockeying for position. When the cars got to the 7700 block of Bancroft the Mazda driver fired one shot from a semi-automatic pistol at the BMW, police said. The bullet went through the passenger-side window, narrowly missing the pregnant wife but leaving her with debris wounds and grazing her husband on the chest, police said. They were taken to a hospital. The Mazda kept going on Bancroft until 73rd Avenue, where it collided with at least one other vehicle before rolling over and striking the children and a 38-year-old woman at a bus stop, police said.
