Cab driver dies in car plunge into Oakland estuary
In Oakland, rescue divers were dispatched to the estuary near Oakland International Airport around 8:30 a.m. after a taxicab was seen in the water. They found the body of the driver in the submerged vehicle, police said. He was believed to be the only person in the cab.
The incident happened along Doolittle Drive at Langley Street. The cause was not immediately known, but “it’s very likely the weather had something to do with it,” said police Officer Hector Chavez. “The roads are wet, and he most likely slipped off the road.”
