Cyclist Killed By Union Pacific Train While Crossing Tracks In Richmond
A bicyclist was struck and killed Saturday afternoon in Richmond by an eastbound Union Pacific freight train, a Union Pacific spokesman said. Union Pacific officials will offer peer counseling to the train crew, he said. The bicyclist was killed at about 1:50 p.m. about two miles from Central Avenue, spokesman Francisco Castillo Jr. said.

Mark Guillory, 53, of Richmond, appeared to go around the barriers at a railroad crossing and was struck around 1:50 p.m. by a Union Pacific train going about 38 mph, police spokesman Francisco Castillo Jr. said. The gates were down, and the bells and red flashing lights were working when the collision happened, he said.
