Carjacking in Richmond, CA leads to high-speed chase and fatal police shooting in downtown San Francisco

Car chase ends with fatal police shooting in SF

Police Chief Greg Suhr said the incident began around 4:45 p.m. in Richmond, where the suspect allegedly carjacked a woman driving a white Cadillac Escalade. Police say officers chased the suspect across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge into Marin County and then across the Golden Gate Bridge to downtown San Francisco, where the SUV crashed into other vehicles. Officers reportedly fatally shot the suspect after he opened fire on police.

Police chase in San Francisco ends in death

Police shot and killed a man who led them on a car-chase from Richmond, Calif., 26 miles away, across two bridges including the Golden Gate Bridge, and then through the streets of San Francisco.
The stolen SUV the suspect was driving crashed about 6 a.m. at California and Battery streets in downtown San Francisco's Financial District. Morning traffic was severly disrupted as police investigated the accident.
