One person has died after a makeshift boat crashed into a pier early Wednesday. A witness phoned authorities at 6:11 a.m. Wednesday to report that a plywood boat traveling at full speed had crashed at Pier 52 in The City's Mission Bay neighborhood. The boat driver was seen slumped over the wheel shortly prior to impact.
