Driver Arrested In SF After High-Speed Chase Over Bay Bridge Ends With Crash Into FireHydrant

A high-speed chase over the Bay Bridge ended Thursday morning when the driver crashed into a San Francisco fire hydrant and slipped on the wet pavement as she tried to run, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said. Hayward CHP officers first spotted the 28-year-old woman weaving in an Infinity G35 on Interstate Highway 880 in San Leandro at about 2:45 a.m., CHP Officer Vu Williams said. The officers tried to pull her over but she took off, driving into Oakland and getting onto Interstate Highway 80 heading east, then turning around and going the other direction, Williams said. During the pursuit she reached speeds of more than 100 mph.
