The highway was closed in both direction as of 5:33 p.m. from mile marker 229 – 231. Traffic was backed up to Richmond Hill and delays were expected for several hours.
At about 5:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a motorcycle and a passenger car collided on Highway 285 near Shaffers Crossing. Two people died in the accident. The road was closed for three and a half hours while authorities investigated and crews cleaned up the scene. The driver of the passenger car has been identified as Nina Gonzales, 44.
