Four people were hospitalized -- at least one with serious injuries -- in a three-car wreck earlier this morning near the intersection of 30th Street and Arapahoe Avenue.

The collision occurred around 9:30 a.m., according to police radio traffic.

A Chevy Tahoe driving northbound on 30th Street ran a red light at the intersection of 30th and Arapahoe and collided with a sedan and a GMC Denali, according to Boulder police spokeswoman Kim Kobel.

The Denali was forced into a pole and the sedan ended up sitting in the intersection, while the Tahoe ran over the median on 30th and crashed into a small retaining wall on the opposite side of the street about 50 yards away.

The driver of the Denali -- an adult male -- had to be extricated from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries, Kobel said.

Kobel said the female driver of the Tahoe and her passenger and the driver of the sedan were also all taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Tahoe may have had a seizure before entering the intersection, Kobel said.

Police have closed off 30th between Arapahoe and Canyon Boulevard while crews investigate the accident.
