DPD closed the road while firefighters extricated trapped individuals from the cars. The road was reopened just before 4 p.m.

Police say a black Acura was heading westbound on 32nd Ave., rand a red light and hit the white Subaru which was heading north on Lowell Blvd. The driver of the Subaru died, and the juvenile was a passenger in the same vehicle.

Police say that Layden, 49, was driving a black Acura at a high rate of speed westbound on West 32nd Avenue when he crossed the double yellow lines, passed a vehicle prior to entering the intersection at Lowell Boulevard, drove into the intersection against the red light and struck a white Subaru in the intersection.
