A 51-year-old man died Monday morning after what authorities say may have been an accidental hanging at a water storage and pump station south of Keenseburg.

Emergency crews including the Weld County Sheriff's Office were called around 10 a.m. to the oil and gas-related operation near the intersection of Weld County roads 40 and 57 on a report of a man who was not breathing, said Shane Scofield, a spokesman with the sheriff's office.

Authorities responded and found a man who was not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A coworker told authorities the man was working on a catwalk at the facility, Scofield said. When he looked up approximately 15 minutes later, the man was hanging by an article of clothing in the catwalk. He was not breathing, and the man ran to call emergency services.
