Fatal crash on Avon Mountain shut Rt. 44 down for about 7 hours on Wednesday
The two drivers were taken to the hospital, and one of them later died. The other driver's injuries aren't life-threatening.
The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon near Renbrook School, a private day school on Albany Avenue, also known as Route 44.
