Fairfield police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run

The responsible vehicle is described as a Green Jeep Wrangler with its top off and doors on with a large American Flag flying from the rear of the vehicle. It was last seen traveling northbound on Redding Road at a high rate of speed.

Declan P. Kot, 22, was arrested Wednesday and charged with seven offenses, including felony misconduct with a motor vehicle, after leaving the scene of the crash that killed 32-year-old Marileidy Morel Araujo on Saturday night.

Police: Driver accused of fatal hit-and-run in Fairfield had been drinking

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Kot admitted he had been driving his pickup after consuming six alcoholic drinks.
