Devon Smith, 17, William King, 18, and Bernaria Mickens, 21, dead, 2 injured in fiery single-vehicle crash at Center and Fairview streets in Manchester, Connecticut

Police on scene say that the car lost control, crashed into a telephone pole, and caught on fire. The driver and front seat passenger were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The three rear seat passengers all succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Three occupants in the rear of the vehicle, whom FOX 61 identified as being between ages of 17 and 18, were killed in the crash.

The identities of the crash victims have not yet been released, as their families are still being notified. The two passengers in the front of the car survived, but the three in the backseat were killed.

About 20 people — mostly young men — gathered around the site. Some knelt before the pole, fingertips pressed to their lips in silent contemplation. Others embraced each other, their eyes visibly wet with tears.

On Tuesday afternoon, Manchester police identified the three teens killed as 17-year-old Devon Smith, 18-year-old William King, and 21-year-old Bernaria Mickens, all of Manchester.

Loved ones created a memorial at the site of the accident with flowers, candles and balloons. A large group of people gathered for a vigil on Saturday night to remember and to grieve.

Douglas was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, tampering with a witness, interfering with police, reckless driving and racing.
