Cory Beauchamp, 19, struck and seriously injured by a car in a shopping center parking lot in Middletown, Connecticut

A 19-year-old man was injured Thursday when he was struck by a car in the parking lot of the Metro Square shopping center, police said. Cory Beauchamp, of East Hartford, was taken to Hartford Hospital. Police did not comment on the extent of his injuries but said the accident was "serious." The vehicle that struck him, a 2012 Kia, was driven by 70-year-old Olive Marie Marshall, of Westbrook, police said. The accident happened about 5:10 p.m., according to police.
